Trespassing charge for 2 paragliding near SC plant

JENKINSVILLE, S.C. (AP) — Fairfield County sheriff’s deputies have cited two men for trespassing after they were paragliding near the V.C. Summer Nuclear Station.
The State newspaper reported (http://bit.ly/YwaY4h) the men were cited after they landed in a restricted area.
A deputy was dispatched Aug. 24 after a report that trespassers were near the plant in Jenkinsville.
The men told the officer they were being pulled by a boat on Lake Monticello to about 3,000 feet and then were released to glide to a landing. The sheriff’s report said one of the men said they had been in the area about an hour and had taken off and glided down several times.
Deputies contacted the Department of Natural Resources to meet with the driver of the boat about driving so close to the plant.
