COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – People who have solar panels can now be paid for generating enough power for their neighbors.

Governor McMaster signed the Energy Freedom Act into law.

Greater regulatory structure included in the bill is intended to help solar energy compete with big power companies.

The bill received bi-partisan support and lawmakers say they expect it to create thousands of jobs.
