Savannah River officials giving info in Beaufort

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Officials the Savannah River Site are in Beaufort to give people a bit of information about what goes on at the sprawling facility along the South Carolina-Georgia border.

On Monday, officials from the former nuclear weapons plant are hosting what they call an “Information Pod” at Beaufort High School.

Registration begins at 5 p.m. Then, organizers say they will be putting on a variety of poster sessions and presentations about projects going on at Savannah River.

The event is free, and registration is first-come, first-serve. Topics include nuclear materials management and environmental monitoring.
