SLED: Norway Officer Pawned Guns; Stole Town Gas
NORWAY, S.C. (AP) _ State agents say they have arrested a Norway police officer after he charged the town for gas he pumped into his own personal car and sold his department-issued shotgun and pistol to a pawn shop. The State Law Enforcement Division said Friday that 24-year-old Tybee Stroman was charged with misconduct in office and breach of trust. Arrest warrants say Stroman pumped $1,300 worth of gas into his personal car over the past two months, charging the fuel to the town’s account. The warrants also say Stroman went to an Orangeburg pawn shop on Sept. 15 and sold his department-issued Remington shotgun and Glock pistol for $300. It wasn’t known if Stroman has a lawyer.
