KERSHAW CO., S.C. (WOLO) – South Carolina Highway Patrol says a man was arrested for a fatal hit and run on U.S. 601 near Commerce Drive.

Investigators say Randy Johnson, 68, is charged with leaving the scene involving death.

Troopers say this incident happened around 5:20 a.m. on Thursday.

According to investigators, the pedestrian was walking north on the southbound shoulder, when Johnson fatally struck the victim and left the scene.

Authorities say Johnson’s vehicle stalled on I-20 at mile marker 97 and was later arrested.

He’s being held at the Kershaw County Detention Center.

Troopers are investigating this incident.
