Clyburn kicks off re-election bid with fish fry
HOLLY HILL, S.C. (AP) — U.S. Rep. Jim Clyburn is kicking off his re-election campaign a month before election day.
The Democrat is hosting a fish fry Saturday starting at 11 a.m. at the Holly Hill Depot in the Orangeburg County town.
The event will also have a disc jockey.
Clyburn is seeking a 12th term in the U.S. House. He faces Republican Anthony Culler in the black-majority 6th Congressional District the stretches from Columbia to Charleston.
Clyburn won the Democratic nomination in June with 90 percent of the vote.
