2 die in motorcycle crash in Columbia

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Two people have died in a motorcycle crash in Columbia.

Police spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons told local reporters the wreck happened around 7 p.m. Saturday near Interstate-126.

Timmons said the motorcycle hit another vehicle.

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts says the motorcycle’s driver, Russell Haygood, died at the scene, while the passenger, Holly McGuire died a short time later at the hospital. Neither of the victims was wearing a helmet.

The driver of the other vehicle was not hurt.
