Deadly Fire Ruled Accidental

(WOLO) TRAVELERS REST,S.C., — The Coroner’s Office says a fire caused the deaths of a 60-year-old woman and her 18-month-old great-grandson in a Greenville County home. Authorities told local media outlets that the fire appeared to start Wednesday in the master bedroom of the Travelers Rest home, but burned out before anyone reported it. A family member who hadn’t heard from the victims found one of the bodies Friday evening. The coroner’s office says Jackie Ersahin died from burns and smoke inhalation, while her great-grandson Mael Blassingame was killed from inhaling smoke. Authorities ruled the deaths an accident.
