Clemson kickoff specialist, holder out 6-8 weeks
CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — Clemson’s kicker for kickoffs who also is their holder on placekicks will miss six to eight weeks with a shoulder injury.
Coach Dabo Swinney said Monday that Spencer Benton broke his shoulder blade trying to make a tackle last weekend against Virginia Tech.
Tigers punter Dawson Zimmerman said before the extent of Benton’s injury was known Monday that he would likely become the holder Saturday if Benton could not play against Boston College.
Swinney will name Benton’s replacements Tuesday.
