BREAKING: Officials hold flight at Columbia Metro for passenger with nose-bleed

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – There’s a developing story from the Columbia Metropolitan Airport. We’re learning a plane traveling from Washington D.C. was grounded Friday morning. An initial tweet from the airport’s account indicated, “a flight from Dulles International Airport has been held in the ramp with a sick passenger on board.” A spokesperson for Columbia Metro told us that passenger had a nose-bleed, but she adds it’s “very unlikely” the passenger has ebola. The individual did not reportedly have contact with anyone from West Africa, did not have a fever and did not exhibit flu-like symptoms. Officials say they did not use HAZMAT suits to go on the plane and escort the passenger off, but that passenger was taken to a separate room inside the airport. DHEC is now handling the case.
