3 arrested after robbery at AllSouth Federal Credit Union
Three people are now in custody after a bank robbery to the AllSouth Federal Credit Union on Roberts Branch Parkway.
RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) – Three people are now in custody after a bank robbery on Roberts Branch Parkway. The suspects were caught after two car chases and an exchange of gunfire. No deputies were hurt.
According to officials, deputies responded to a call shortly after 11 a.m. Thursday to the AllSouth Federal Credit Union.
Two men walked inside the bank wearing masks and carrying guns, demanding money. After filling a bag with cash, they left in a car driven by another suspect. Police pursued and attempted to pull the car over, but the suspects did not stop.
The suspects were running people off the road, and Richland Co. Sheriff Leon Lott says there was a least one wreck because of their reckless driving.
The suspects drove through a neighborhood when they got out and began firing at deputies. All three ran to a getaway car, which police say is a stolen vehicle from Orangeburg.
Deputies returned fire and hit one of the suspects in the leg, but they continued to the car and drove away with the other two suspects. He has since been treated and released from the hospital.
Another chase ensued, and deputies were able to stop the car using a ‘pitting’ method on the 9400 block of Wilson Boulevard. They then arrested all three individuals. Three pistols and the bag of cash were found in the stolen car.
“We’re very fortunate that our deputies did not get killed today. Again, it was not because these bad guys didn’t try to do it. There’s no doubt in our mind what their intent was when they turned around and they started shooting at our deputies. Their intent was to kill them,” said Lott.
Longleaf Middle School was placed on lockdown as a precaution, but was later cleared.
“It was great work by our deputies, everybody involved. But also the citizens. Great work by the people in the bank who quickly gave us the information, great information by the citizens who live in that subdivision, who saw and heard what was
going on and did not hesitate calling 911, giving us a great description which the deputies were right there they were able to pick up the second car,” said Lott.
The suspects are identified as Devanta Boyd (DOB: 1/29/93), Devin Mincey (DOB: 2/13/93) and Daniel Williams (DOB: 5/2/2000).
All three suspects face two counts of attempted murder and bank robbery, with more charges possible.
