COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Chances are you’ve heard the phrase, the third time is a charm. Well, Gamecock fans are hoping this Saturday when Connor Shaw takes the field as starting quarterback for the second time this season, that he’ll prove to be the charm and prove he has what it takes to be the team’s quarterback. “Garcia just doesn’t look very great at all,” says Thomas Yarborough, a USC student. “Garcia hasn’t really been playing like we kind of hoped he would,” says another USC student. After a tough loss to Auburn, Gamecock nation is ready for an offense shake up, starting with the quarterback. “Time and time again he’s proven that he can do it, but time and time again, he’s also proven he’s going to let us down,” says Jenni Knight, USC student. “I think everyone is ready to see a change,” says Yarborough “He had his chance and he blew it so it’s definitely time for a change,” says Paulina Berkovich, a USC student. Fans will get that change this Saturday when Connor Shaw starts as quarterback against Kentucky. “Definitely should be interesting,” says a USC student. “I feel better than if Garcia was starting,” says Yarborough. “Given Garcia’s performance last week might as well try,” says another USC student. “It certainly can’t be much worse than the last few weeks have been,” says Berkovich. “We couldn’t do much worse with Shaw in there,” says Yarborough. This isn’t the first time Shaw has been the starting quarterback this season. “The ECU game, he was hitting his receivers they just weren’t catching them,” says a USC student. But fans are looking for a different outcome this weekend. “I think he will have more support from the team,” says Yarborough. “I’m hoping the team gets behind him,” says another USC student. Speaking of hope, fans have a lot of expectations riding on this game. “I hope Shaw takes this chance and runs with it,” says Berkovich. “Definitely that we win,” says Knight. “I hope we dominate and get ourselves back on track for an SEC Championship,” says Yarborough.
