Brawling teams to compete in playoffs

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Camden and Dreher high schools have each won appeals with the state governing body and will compete in the state football playoffs.
The teams were involved in a postgame brawl after Camden’s 39-30 victory Oct. 17. The South Carolina High School League placed both schools on probation, meaning they were ineligible for playoffs. After an initial appeal was denied last week, a final hearing before an appellate panel Monday put each team on restrictive probation that meant they could return to the Class 3A playoffs which start Friday.
Camden will play at Belton-Honea Path while Dreher will play at Berkeley.
One player from each school was charged with assault by the Camden Police Department for their roles in the fight.
