SC bus executive speaks at USC business school

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — The chief executive officer of a company that makes electric-powered buses is speaking at the University of South Carolina about the future of urban transit.

Ryan Popple of the Greenville-based firm Proterra speaks Thursday at the Darla Moore School of Business. He plans to address what he sees as the growth of the electric bus market and argue that it is a cleaner, quieter and more cost-effective approach for cities to follow.

Popple’s talk is the inaugural address in a new speaker series on the issue of sustainability.
