SC ruling body postpones high school title game
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — The South Carolina high school football championship game between Christ Church and Bamberg-Ehrhardt has been postponed while the sport’s governing body investigates the eligibility of a Bamberg-Ehrhardt player.
South Carolina High School League commissioner Jerome Singleton said in a release Tuesday the protest must be examined to see who Christ Church would face in the championship game on Friday. Christ Church has won the past three Class A Division I state championships and a state-record 53 consecutive games.
Singleton said the teams and fans involved will be notified when the game will be played. The contest was originally set for Friday at noon at Benedict College’s football stadium.
Bamberg-Ehrhardt defeated Allendale-Fairfax 20-8 last week to advance to the championship game.
