(WOLO) Columbia,S.C., — ” no justice no peace, no justice, no peace” Those were the words chanted by dozens of people on the state house grounds as they protested the outcome of the Ferguson, Missouri trial. Different races and ages ranging from young to old held signs portraying their disdain for the verdict brought down in the Ferguson Missouri case – where an unarmed teen was shot and killed , and the police officer accused of pulling the trigger faces no charges. “police ought not have the right to invoke the death penalty one the streets of this country without due process. It didn’t just start happening with mr. brown it’s been happening.” Passion and anger over the verdict had some in an uproar as they say they fear for their own children, others completely caught by surprise by what they say is a disregard for human life. ” As someone who is white who has the benefits of white privilege i have just been feeling this weight on my chest that’s left me speechless.” But others like Kevin Gray aren’t least bit surprised or speechless by the outcome of the case, in fact he had plenty to say. ” I am a black man in America it doesn’t just happen to black people or white people it happens to all of us and it;’s because police have too much power. “nothing has changed they have been hunting us for 150 years and some of us get killed along the way.”
