Man shot to death by US Marshal in Kershaw County

CAMDEN, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say a U.S. Marshal shot and killed a Kershaw County man as he tried to arrest him after he failed to show up this week to serve more than four years in prison.
Investigators told local media outlets that federal agents went to 61-year-old Joseph Folsom Jr.’s home near Lake Wateree on Friday after he didn’t report to prison this week to begin a 51-month federal prison sentence.
Authorities say shots were fired inside the home when Folsom was killed. No one else was hit. The State Law Enforcement Division is investigating the shooting.
Folsom was convicted in June of four counts of interstate transportation of stolen money.
