Cops: Suspect drives man he shot to the hospital

MANNING, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say a Manning man has been charged with murder after he shot the brother of his estranged wife, then took the victim to the hospital.

Clarendon County Sheriff Randy Garrett told The Sumter Item (http://bit.ly/1A3TAzZ ) that 26-year-old Isaac Baughman was arguing with the victim before the shooting around 3:30 a.m. Friday.

Investigators say Baughman and his estranged wife drove 19-year-old Steven Brown to the hospital, but Baughman left as a doctor pronounced Brown dead. Shortly before his arrest, authorities say Baughman wrote that he was going to jail for murder on his Facebook page.

The sheriff says Baughman claims the shooting was in self-defense. No weapon was found on Brown.

Investigators haven’t determined what the men were arguing about.
