SC coroner: Man found slumped over bike was fatally stabbed

PIEDMONT, S.C. (AP) — A South Carolina coroner says a man found slumped over his bicycle was fatally stabbed.

News outlets reported Saturday a Greenville County Sheriff’s Office statement said 53-year-old Stevie Thompson’s body was discovered just before midnight on Friday. Senior Deputy Coroner Jeff Fowler said Thompson had suffered a stab wound. He was transported to a hospital that night and pronounced dead.

A homicide investigation is ongoing.
