Committee announces Gov. Haley’s inaugural events

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Activities surrounding Gov. Nikki Haley’s swearing-in ceremony in January to kick off her second term include a “family fun night” and a $250-per-couple gala.

The 96th South Carolina Inaugural Committee announced Tuesday details of Haley’s inauguration events. A pre-inaugural event at the South Carolina State Museum will be from 6-8 p.m. on Jan. 13. Children under 18 can get in for free, while adult tickets cost $20 each.

Haley will be sworn in Jan. 14 on the Statehouse steps. An inaugural prayer service will be held that morning across the street at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral. The Haley family will hold an open house that afternoon at the Governor’s Mansion. Those public events are free.

The inaugural gala will start at 7:30 p.m. that night at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.
