Miami QB Williams sees career go full-circle

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) — For Miami quarterback Ryan Williams, his college career will end where his life began.

That seems fitting.

Williams will be on the sideline when the Hurricanes meet South Carolina in the Independence Bowl at Shreveport, Louisiana on Dec. 27. He was born in Shreveport, though his family didn’t settle in the Miami area until he was 7.

Williams isn’t expected to play in the bowl game. He was Miami’s presumed starter last spring until tearing a knee ligament, and although he recovered in time to get on the field this fall the job was won by freshman Brad Kaaya.

Williams threw only one pass all year in extremely limited duty. He’s hopeful that an NFL club gives him a chance anyway.
