Volunteers Needed at Inclement Weather Center

(WOLO) COLUMBIA,S.C.,– The Inclement Weather Center is in need of help during the winter season. Volunteers are needed to help greet clients, handout blankets and sheets, help with registration and direct traffic to specific areas (bathrooms, beds, etc.) The Inclement Weather Center is located at 191 Calhoun Street, near the River Walk off of Laurel Street. Most volunteers are needed between 5:30 – 7:45 p.m. and 5:30 – 7:15 a.m. The center is only open on days when the temperature is 40 degrees or below, and volunteers are needed sporadically throughout the next several months. A decision to open the Center is made daily at noon. Volunteer shifts are based on a ten day weather forecast and are subject to change.
