Berkley Deputy In Chase Turned Crash

(WOLO) BERKLEY, S.C., — A Berkley County Deputy is recovering after his cruiser reportedly burst into flames after a suspect chase gone wrong. Authorities say one deputy was chasing a suspect who had fled a traffic stop. A second deputy joined the chase to assist in the apprehension of the suspect. That’s when officials say the driver of the SUV deliberately side swiped the cruiser forcing it to crash and then catch fire. The driver of the jeep was taken into custody after he tried to flee on foot. The deputy was transported to an area hospital as a precaution. (Source: Associated Press)
