FBI office in SC putting on Black History Month program

WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — The Columbia office of the FBI is putting on a special program to commemorate Black History Month.

Special Agent in Charge Dave Thomas is hosting a program on Thursday at the Brookland Baptist Church Banquet and Conference Center in West Columbia.

The theme of this year’s celebration is “A Century of Black Life, History, and Culture.”

Organizers say the event’s guest speaker is Birgitta Johnson, assistant professor for music and ethnomusicology and African-American studies at the University of South Carolina.
