Jay Jordon wins Republican primary for House District 63
FLORENCE, S.C. (AP) — Voters in Florence County have chosen attorney Jay Jordan as winner of the Republican primary to replace former state Rep. Kris Crawford.
There is no Democrat running in the heavily Republican district. Jordan is expected to win the April 14 special election.
Unofficial vote totals showed Jordan received about 1,900 votes, Florence City Councilman Robby Hill had nearly 1,100, and property management firm owner Elijah Jones got about 500 votes. The unofficial results are to be certified Thursday by the election commission.
Crawford resigned in December, a month after being elected to a fifth term. The emergency room physician said the 160-mile round-trip drive from Florence to his job in Columbia was wearing him out.
