Inspiring speakers on tap at Male Empowerment Summit

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – Richland School District One is holding a two-day “Male Empowerment Summit,” which kicks off Friday. Nearly 800 sixth grade students from nine middle schools are taking part. Organizers say they have a number of inspirational speakers lined up… to share their wisdom on being successful in school and life. Here’s a closer look at the event: The opening session begins at 9:10 a.m. in the Freddie Grace Theatre on the campus of W.G. Sanders Middle School, 3455 Pine Belt Road. Remarks will be given by Interim Superintendent Dr. Cynthia Cash-Greene. The keynote speaker is David Jackson from Oakland, California, who is a motivational speaker, an entrepreneur and an assistant chaplain for the Golden State Warriors NBA team. After the opening session, the students will participate in break-out sessions led by various presenters from the Columbia area. The closing session, featuring all of the presenters, will begin at 1:20 p.m. in the theatre.
