SC State museum to show movie about James Brown
ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) — A museum at South Carolina State University that houses a collection of James Brown memorabilia is hosting a special showing of a recent movie about The Godfather of Soul.
The I.P. Stanback Museum and Planetarium will show “Get on Up” at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
Organizers say after the movie, SC State assistant band director George “Spike” Nealy will talk. Nealy played percussion for Brown’s band.
The museum in Orangeburg is home to plenty of memorabilia from the soul singer included in its exhibit, The Influence of James Brown: His imprint on Music, Dance, Style, and Politics.
