8 high school quartets tutored by string musicians at USC
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Eight groups of high school musicians from across the Southeast are coming to South Carolina for a day of intensive musical training and competition.
University of South Carolina says Saturday’s event involves groups of high school chamber music quartets.
The university says the student musicians are getting intensive one-on-one coaching from members of the Grammy Award-winning Parker Quartet and faculty members from the university’s School of Music.
The student ensembles are from the states of South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia.
The day culminates in a public competition in the School of Music recital hall, which is free and open to the public.
