South Carolina officials, students talk financial literacy

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — It’s tax day, but some officials are trying to refocus the day itself on personal finances.

Elected officials and more than 150 high school students from around the Midlands are celebrating Financial Literacy Day in downtown Columbia on Wednesday.

Activities begin at 9 a.m. with a “Reality of Money” life-simulation at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. There’s a rally at 1:30 p.m. on the Statehouse steps, and Treasurer Curtis Loftis and Education Superintendent Molly Spearman are expected to give remarks.

All activities are open to the media.
