Columbia Fire Department Seeks Experienced Firefighters

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — There’s an opportunity awaiting at the Columbia Fire Department. Officials say they’re looking for experienced firefighter-two certified candidates to begin immediate firefighter shift work. That’s after a shortened four week job orientation course. To be considered for the course, candidates must meet all City of Columbia hiring qualifications. The minimum qualifications include: 1. Must be 18 years or older 2. Have a high school diploma; or, a state GED certificate; or college diploma 3. Posses (and maintain) a valid Class “D” Drivers License; and have an acceptable driving record. Applications must be submitted and processed by City of Columbia HR by May 20 to be considered for this process cycle. Candidate must then pass and complete the Columbia Fire Department application testing process. Testing is being conducted on May 15, May 22 and May 23.
