Coastal Keeps Season Going, Beats Texas Southern

Andrew Beckwith’s strong start helped Coastal Carolina keep its season going with a 4-1 win over Texas Southern in an NCAA Tournament elimination game at the College Station, TX regional. Beckwith gave up one run off seven hits in 8.1 innings. The Chanticleers jumped out to 1-0 lead in the third inning off a solo home run from Michael Paez. Coastal, the #2 seed that lost its regional opener 9-3 to California Friday, added a nice cushion with a 3-run fourth inning. CCU moves on to play host Texas A&M Sunday afternoon in another elimination game. The Chanticleers and the College of Charleston are the only teams from the state of South Carolina left after two days of the NCAA baseball tournament.
