Researchers ask public to count fireflies

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Besides street lights, there may not be much lighting up the night sky. Researchers at Clemson University are looking into whether fireflies are disappearing and why, but they need your help. It’s inviting the public to count the number of fireflies that they see during a 60 second period. To add your data be sure to download the new Firefly Counter App for iPhones and Android phones and the Firefly Field Guide to count and automatically submit observations. You can also use the online form to submit count. It can be found at, http://firefly.clemson.edu/webform/.
