Conference in Columbia focuses on walking, biking to school

COLLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Parents, educators, traffic planners and others from across South Carolina are gathering in Columbia to discuss safe ways for children to bicycle and walk to school.

The state’s inaugural Safe Routes to Schools Forum is being held at Spring Valley High School on Thursday.

The topics include such things as bicycle and pedestrian safety and developing a better infrastructure to make it easier and safer for kids to bicycle or walk to their schools.
