SC teacher charged with sexual assault of minor resigns

BEAUFORT, S.C. (AP) — A Beaufort man charged with sexually assaulting a minor has resigned from his teaching position at a county school.
The State of Columbia reports (http://bit.ly/1FrTEue ) a Beaufort County School District spokesman confirmed 31-year-old Christopher Guy resigned from his job at Lady’s Island Middle School on Thursday.
The spokesman, Jim Foster, says Guy worked as a math teacher at the school.
Police say Guy was charged with third-degree criminal sexual assault with a minor on Wednesday.
Police spokeswoman Cpl. Hope Able says the incident occurred that same day at Guy’s home and involved a 13-year-old victim.
Able did not disclose the child’s relation to Guy.
Able says the child’s mother reported the incident to police.
