Man found dead in US 321 median likely hit-and-run victim

GASTON, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say an 18-year-old man has been found dead in the median of U.S. Highway 321 south of Columbia.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office said John Moore Jr.’s body was found around 6 a.m. Tuesday on the side of the highway near Gaston, about 15 miles south of Columbia.

Troopers say car parts were found near Moore, and they think he was the victim of a hit-and-run. They are looking for a Chevrolet or GMC pickup truck with a model year between 2007 and 2014. The Highway Patrol says the truck likely had left front damage and a missing driver’s side mirror.
