Game of Pool Turns Deadly

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) — A 24-year-old man is under arrest following a deadly altercation at a pool hall. According to Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott, at approximately 11:30am on July 2, 2015, Paul Watkins and the deceased were playing a game of pool when the two men got into a verbal altercation which turned physical The deceased male assaulted Watkins with a pool cue striking him in the upper body. Sheriff Leon Lott stated that while being assaulted, Watkins pulled out a gun and shot the victim in the upper body, killing him. The Sheriff stated that Watkins is cooperating with the investigation and that deputies are continuing to question additional witnesses. Sheriff Leon Lott states this investigation is ongoing and that Watkins was charged with carrying a weapon unlawfully.
