Annual peach festival draws big crowds

GILBERT, S.C. (WOLO) — The 57th Annual Lexington County Peach Festival drew big crowds this Fourth of July. The celebration is held in Gilbert at the Gilbert Community Park. The town used to be a main hub for the peach industry, but the number of farms has dwindled. Though, Gilbert has continued to honor the fruit each year by basing a festival around it. Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum surprised visitors Saturday. He’s a fan of the fuzzy fruit. Besides eating, the Lexington County Peach Festival features a parade, a pageant and an antique car show.
