Operation Southern Shield cracks down on speeding

Lexington, S.C. (WOLO)–Police are cracking down on speeding in Lexington and across the state.
A spokesperson for the Lexington Police Department says police are taking part in Operation Southern Shield.
It is a statewide initiative to intensify enforcement of posted speed limits.
According to police, speed was a factor in 37% of fatal accidents in South Carolina last year.
Operation Southern Shield continues through Saturday.
