South Carolina Advances to Little League World Series

WARNER ROBINS, G.A. — For the first time since 1950, a South Carolina team is going to the Little League World Series. Northwood (Taylors) topped Mechanicsville (Virginia) National 7-0 Thursday to claim the Southeast Regional title. Northwood‘s Alex Edmondson was the star. He hit two home runs and pitched a no-hitter in the title game Thursday, as Northwood became the first team to reach the LLWS since Clinton in 1950. The Little League World Series begins Aug. 20 in South Williamsport, Pa.
