Benedict Begins Football Practice Saturday

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College Tigers opened up their 2015 football practice with a spirited workout Saturday. “The first day wasn’t bad at all. We’ve got a long ways for some guys to get in shape, but I thought the guys ran around with a lot of enthusiasm. I was impressed for a first day,” Benedict coach Mike White said. The Tigers had about 70 players going through the two-hour workout. White said he was disappointed in the condition of some of the offensive linemen. “That’s the group that needs the most conditioning. There’s some big boys over there. They’ve still got a lot of improvement there. You can’t rush it. You’ve got to let them get in shape,” White said. White was encouraged with the positive attitude of the players. “I just liked the way the guys flew around and encouraged each other to hang in there. It was a good, hot day,” White said. “It was a great day to start. I was impressed the way they were encouraging their teammates to hang in there.”
