Husband charged with murder in Hopkins woman’s death
HOPKINS, S.C. (AP) — The husband of a woman whose body was found in a Hopkins home has been charged with murder and illegal possession of a firearm.
Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott tells local media outlets that 57-year-old Mimi Joe Marshall allegedly confessed to relatives that he had killed his wife.
Deputies were called to a home Saturday morning to check on a resident. There, they found the body of 58-year-old Doris Marshall. She had been shot in the upper body.
Witnesses told investigators they heard a single gunshot and saw the woman’s husband flee the property.
Lott says the husband was arrested without incident Saturday afternoon and taken to jail. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
