Kasich returns to South Carolina to file primary paperwork

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Ohio Gov. John Kasich (KAY’-sik) is returning to South Carolina to file papers for the first GOP presidential primary in the South.

His campaign says the second-term governor and former congressman is planning to visit Columbia on Monday afternoon to file as a candidate in the primary slated for February 20.

Later Monday, Kasich is expected to appear at forum being held in Myrtle Beach by Americans for Peace, Prosperity and Security.

Kasich was in South Carolina last month after officially announcing his candidacy at Ohio State University, his alma mater.
