Another porch fire reported in downtown Charleston

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Authorities in Charleston are investigating yet another fire on the porch of a house in the downtown area.

But they haven’t said whether they think Monday’s blaze is linked to a series of about 80 arson fires in the area during the past decade.

Most of those fires were started on the porches of houses in an area of the city where many apartments are rented by college students. There were no injuries in the Monday fire that broke out about 3:45 a.m.

Fire officials say the fire spread to an interior wall of the home before it was contained.
