COLUMBIA, S.C. — Surrounded by his children and wife, the 1980 Heisman-winning running back George Rogers watched as the University of South Carolina unveiled a statue in Rogers’ honor at Williams Brice Stadium Saturday. “The University of South Carolina has done good by me,” said Rogers Saturday before the USC’s kickoff with Kentucky. “Even in the bad times, they still stuck by me. It’s great to be a Gamecock.” When asked how it felt to be recognized with a statue outside Williams Brice Stadium, Rogers responded with an enormous laugh, “I think you know.” Click the video to watch Rogers’ comments.
