Gamecocks Gashed, Kentucky Up 24-7 At Half

After taking a 7-0 lead in the first three minutes of the game, the Gamecocks gave up 24 unanswered points to Kentucky to go into halftime of their SEC and home opener down 24-7. USC sophomore starting quarterback Connor Mitch injured his shoulder late in the 2nd quarter and was taken to the locker room. Steve Spurrier says it is a shoulder sprain, and Mitch will likely not return to the game. Kentucky outgained Carolina 307 to 161 in total yards.
