Columbia, S.C. (WOLO) — On Wednesday, Carly Fiorina filed for the South Carolina primary and held a meet and greet with midlands residents. “We need a leader who is a fearless fighter and I hope you have seen enough of me to know by now I am a fearless fighter,” said Carly Fiorina. Continuing her three-day campaign tour across the Palmetto State, presidential hopeful Carly Fiorina made a stop in the midlands to engage with South Carolina voters. “She‘s a fresh voice, She‘s a lady that can offer something to this country,” said resident Albert Jabs. “She knows what she‘s saying, she knows business,” added LaMerle Kennerly. The former Hewlett-Packard CEO spent the lunch hour at Hudson‘s Smokehouse where she connected with local residents in a town-hall style meeting. She addressed questions on drug-addiction in the United States, government spending, and job creation. “The engine of job creation is small businesses, family owned businesses, community based businesses and farms,” explained Fiorina. “They create 2/3 ‘s of the new jobs in the country they employ half the people.” Since last weeks national debate, Fiorina is surging in the polls. She’s jumped just behind front-runner Donald Trump. Fiorina attributed the upswing to the American people who she said desire a leader focused on serious issues, not an entertainer. “Donald Trumps going to do what Donald Trumps going to do and I‘m going to do what I‘m going to do and I‘m rising in the polls,” said Fiorina. The Republican presidential hopeful wrapped up her day in the midlands filing for the South Carolina primary at the GOP headquarters in Columbia. On Thursday, she will continue on the campaign trail in the upstate.
