University of SC hosts public forum on debt crisis

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — The University of South Carolina is holding the first of several public forums on the nation’s debt crisis.
The university says a gathering titled “A Nation in Debt: How Can We Pay the Bills?” is scheduled for Thursday at the Thomas Cooper Library.
The event is free, and people will have an opportunity to talk and air concern on the national debt.
The forums represent a joint effort by S.C. Political Collections, the Association of Centers for the Study of Congress, the Kettering Foundation and the National Issues Forums Institute.
Organizers hope the meetings will give policymakers valuable insights about the debt crisis.
