Jordanian general, Citadel alum, returns for talk

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — A high-ranking military leader from Jordan is returning to The Citadel to talk about how the South Carolina military college shaped him.

Lt. Gen. Hussein al-Majali is the Jordanian Director of Public Security. He is scheduled to speak at the school’s McAlister Field House Thursday.

The son of a former Jordanian prime minister, Al-Majali graduated from The Citadel in 1981 with a degree in political science. He received a commission in the Jordanian army the following year.

In addition to his current position, al-Majali has served as his country’s ambassador to Bahrain.

The talk is open to the public.
