Cummins unit plans $24M North Charleston expansion
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A unit of diesel engine company Cummins Inc. is planning to spend $24 million in Charleston County and create 31 new jobs.
Cummins Technical Center Charleston announced plans Wednesday to expand testing facilities in North Charleston during the next three years.
The operation also works on alternative fuel technology.
A year ago Cummins Turbo Technologies consolidated its Charleston-area production into a single operation in Ladson that would make as many as 700,000 turbochargers yearly.
The company also operates a marine engine manufacturing operation.
Cummins has had operations in the Charleston area since the 1970s.
