York County officials identify dead from storm
ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) — York County officials have released the names of three people killed when a storm struck just south of Rock Hill.
Coroner Sabrina Gast said the victims included a husband and wife, 60-year-old Charles Hafner and his 62-year-old wife, Barbara. The other victim was 60-year-old Oran Courtney.
The storm thought to be a tornado struck about 5 miles southwest of Rock Hill around 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Five other people were injured. There was no immediate word on their injuries.
Officials say seven homes were damaged or destroyed.
Sheriff Bruce Bryant has asked Gov. Nikki Haley for assistance in cleaning up the debris.
